Rules of Procedure

Perekliinik is your family doctor! This means that sometimes you may be attended by a physician other than your primary family doctor. We ask for your understanding in this matter! The family nurse collects information about the patient’s health status and, if necessary, also performs an initial examination.

General information 

  • Please contact Perekliinik by using the self-service environment of e-Perearstikeskus, or by phone in case of urgency.
  • At registration, you will talk to the family nurse who will ask you about the reasons for your visit, and additional information if necessary. Collecting information helps us better plan for your appointment.
  • We kindly ask for your patience if the family nurse cannot answer your call right away.
  • For security purposes, health-related inquiries will not be addressed via email.
  • For round-the-clock medical advice, you can call the Family Doctor Helpline 1220.

Appointment procedure: 

  • Please make sure to register in advance for appointments with the family doctor and nurse via the self-service portal of e-Perearstikeskus or by phone.
  • Perekliinik’s staff does not see patients on a walk-in basis.
  • If you arrive late for your appointment, the family doctor and nurse will have the right to reduce the duration of your consultation or to refuse to see you.
  • If you are unable to attend your appointment, please notify us immediately via the self-service portal of the e-Perearstikeskus or by phone.
  • Please wait to be called before entering the family doctor’s or nurse’s room.
  • Each patient appointment lasts for 30 minutes. If you have additional concerns, please inform us when scheduling your appointment.
  • Separate appointment times need to be booked for each family member.
  • Please note! It is not allowed to film or otherwise record any activities in the Perekliinik premises. Perekliinik reserves the right to confiscate any recordings. In the event that recordings are made without permission, Perekliinik reserves the right to seek legal action to ensure the confidentiality of both patients and staff, with corresponding consequences for those who disregard this policy.

Referrals to medical specialists and examinations:

  • When ordering tests and analyses, the family doctor or nurse make their decisions based on your complaints. If, as a patient, you are interested in undergoing tests that are not related to your complaints, you have the option to contact Synlab for paid testing services.
  • The family doctor will issue a referral or authorize an e-consultation to a medical specialist only when there is a medical indication.
  • If, according to the medical specialist’s decision, the patient needs to be kept under their care, the medical specialist will arrange for follow-up appointments themselves.
  • The validity period of the referral depends on the specific referral. Your doctor will provide further information or recommendations for procedures when preparing your referral.

Ordering and renewal of prescriptions:  

  • You can renew prescriptions by phone, via the e-Perearstikeskus, or filling in the repeat prescription ordering form.
  • Prescriptions are issued within 5 working days. Please keep track of the expiration dates of your prescriptions and notify Perekliinik of necessary renewal in a timely manner.
  • In the case of acute illness, prescriptions are issued on the same day.

  • A single prescription is valid for 60 days (2 months); a triple prescription is valid for 180 days (6 months).

Certificate for sick leave / certificate for care leave: 

  • If you need a certificate for sick leave, please notify us via the e-Perearstikeskus or by phone on the first day of illness.
  • On the first day of illness, your family nurse will advise you, assess your health status and provide recommendations for initial/home treatment. If necessary, the family nurse will find a suitable time for you to see the family doctor or nurse.
  • The issued certificate for sick leave /care leave must be medically justified.
  • Certificates cannot be initiated or issued retroactively.
