Mental health nursing

The purpose of mental health nursing is to advise and motivate the patient to choose/maintain a healthy lifestyle.

When or why should I contact a mental health nurse?

  • To seek counseling for yourself or your loved ones regarding mental health issues.
  • To receive recommendations for both further referral and recurring health counseling.
  • To find solutions together for various mental health-related issues: mood disorders, communication difficulties, anxiety disorders, behavioural problems, family issues, addictions, memory disorders, sleep disorders, as well as grief and loss. (N.B. excluding eating disorders)
  • To seek counseling and motivation to choose/maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The service includes:

  • assessment conducted by a mental health nurse;
  • problem identification;
  • setting therapy goals;
  • planning and conducting therapy;
  • patient counseling.

Your family doctor or nurse will refer you to a mental health nurse.
