If you need a certificate for sick leave or care leave (for caring for a child or family member), you must call your family doctor on the first day of illness.
The family doctor can open a certificate for sick leave or care leave for an illness that started over the weekend if the patient has called the family doctor helpline 1220, visited the hospital emergency room, or called an ambulance, and has been given a respective certificate. The patient must submit the certificate to the family doctor within two days.
